What is a golden ratio face test?
A golden ratio face test compares a measured facial proportion with Ο, a mathematical constant of about 1.618. This tool estimates face height relative to cheekbone width from one photo. It shows the measured value and its absolute difference from Ο, so you can see exactly what is being compared.
What does 1.618 mean?
Divide a line into a longer part a and a shorter part b. When (a + b) Γ· a equals a Γ· b, both ratios equal Ο = (1 + β5) Γ· 2. A golden rectangle uses the same proportion between its longer and shorter sides. Here, Ο is a reference for comparison; it is not a target everyone needs to match.
How we measure your facial ratio
MediaPipe locates the facial landmarks in your browser. We level the image coordinates using the outer eye corners, then measure cheek width between two cheek landmarks. Face height is estimated from the chin to an extended upper-forehead point. This is the same height-to-cheek-width formula used for the golden ratio indicator in our attractiveness test.
The visible top landmark is not a detected hairline. We extend it upward by half the distance from the brow midpoint to the base-of-nose landmark. The photo overlay separates this estimated extension with a dashed line. Measurements use equal horizontal and vertical pixel units, so image orientation does not stretch the result. Camera perspective, expression and pose can still affect it.

Golden ratio test: common questions
Is this golden ratio face test free?
Yes. Upload or take a photo, view the measurements and create a share card without an account or payment. Your photo is processed on your device.
Does being closer to 1.618 mean I look better?
This test makes no such judgment. It compares one geometric ratio and does not measure attractiveness, personality, skin quality or how others perceive you. The difference is a number, not a beauty score.
Why is this different from the face shape test?
The face shape test uses the visible upper-face landmark and outer face width. This test uses an estimated forehead extension and cheekbone width. Different measurement anchors produce different ratios, even on the same photo.
Why does my result change between photos?
Head angle, lens distance, expression and landmark detection can change the measured proportion. Compare relaxed, front-facing photos taken under similar conditions. No independently validated accuracy percentage is claimed.
