Image cropping & photo size FAQs

How do I crop an image online for free?

Choose an image from your phone or computer, adjust the crop frame and enter your download dimensions. Save the result as JPG, PNG or WebP. The image cropper is free and does not require an account.

How do I crop a passport photo or a 2×2 ID photo?

Open the country guide below and find the photo type you need. Choose “Crop to this size” to load its dimensions, then frame your photo. For a visa, select the destination country. The source link on each card explains the photo requirements.

What is the difference between cropping and resizing?

Cropping removes the edges outside your chosen area. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the saved image. Use both to prepare a profile picture, passport photo or application photo at the size you need.

Which image formats can I crop?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG images up to 50 MB. Save your crop as JPG, PNG or WebP. Animated images are exported as a still image.

How can I keep my cropped photo sharp?

Start with a clear, high-resolution original and avoid enlarging a small crop. Choose high image quality for JPG or WebP, or PNG for lossless output encoding. Keep the original file so you can make another crop later.

How do pixels and millimetres work?

Pixels set the digital image dimensions; millimetres set the print size. Choose mm and the tool converts the dimensions automatically. If an application specifies pixel dimensions, enter those directly in px.

Are my photos kept private?

Yes. Cropping and exporting happen on your device. Your photo is not uploaded to or stored on our servers, and you do not need to create an account.

Can this tool change my photo background?

This tool crops, resizes, rotates and flips your existing image. To create a new professional portrait, choose “Create AI headshots”. For passport and identity applications, use the official photo guidance linked in the country cards.
