Image cropping & photo size FAQs

How do I crop an image online for free?

Choose an image from your phone or computer, adjust the crop frame and enter your download dimensions. Save the result as JPG, PNG or WebP. The image cropper is free and does not require an account.

How do I crop a passport photo or a 2×2 ID photo?

Open the country guide below and find the photo type you need. Choose “Crop to this size” to load its dimensions, then frame your photo. For a visa, select the destination country. The source link on each card explains the photo requirements.

What is the difference between cropping and resizing?

Cropping removes the edges outside your chosen area. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the saved image. Use both to prepare a profile picture, passport photo or application photo at the size you need.

Which image formats can I crop?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG images up to 50 MB. Save your crop as JPG, PNG or WebP. Animated images are exported as a still image.

How can I keep my cropped photo sharp?

Start with a clear, high-resolution original and avoid enlarging a small crop. Choose high image quality for JPG or WebP, or PNG for lossless output encoding. Keep the original file so you can make another crop later.

How do pixels and millimetres work?

Pixels set the digital image dimensions; millimetres set the print size. Choose mm and the tool converts the dimensions automatically. If an application specifies pixel dimensions, enter those directly in px.

Are my photos uploaded when I remove a background?

No. Cropping, text, mosaic, background removal and export run on your device. Background removal downloads a portrait model on first use; the photo itself is not sent to our servers.

Can I remove or change a photo background?

Yes. Select the background tool to remove a portrait background, then choose transparency, a preset color or a custom color. Confirm to keep the result, cancel to return to the previous state, or use the restore icon to recover the original background. Check the relevant photo requirements before using an edited image for an official document.

How do I add and move text on a photo?

Choose the text tool and click the photo to type. Set the font, size, color, bold, italic or underline, then confirm. Drag the text to move it and double-click to edit it. Confirmed text colors are remembered for the next annotation.

How do I pixelate part of an image?

Choose the mosaic tool and paint over the area. Adjust brush width and pixel size independently; the sample shows the effect before you paint. Use Undo to remove a stroke.

How do I save an image with a transparent background?

Remove the background, select the transparent option and choose PNG as the download format. JPG does not preserve transparency. Preview your image before downloading.

How do I compress an image?

Upload an image, choose JPG, PNG or WebP, and adjust the Quality slider under “Compress image”. Lower quality usually produces a smaller file; check the live file size and preview before downloading. Compression can affect detail and colors, and the size reduction depends on the photo and format.

How do I convert an image to JPG, PNG or WebP?

Upload your image, keep the Original aspect ratio and the full crop frame if you want the whole image, then choose JPG, PNG or WebP under File format and download. JPG does not preserve transparency, and animated images are saved as a still image. Changing formats does not restore lost detail.

What can I do with this online photo editor?

You can crop, resize and compress images, adjust brightness, add styled text, paint mosaic over selected areas, remove portrait backgrounds and choose a new background color. You can also rotate, flip and export as JPG, PNG or WebP. Preview the result before downloading.

How do I rotate or flip a photo?

Upload a photo and click Rotate 90° to turn it in quarter-turn steps. Use the horizontal or vertical flip icon to mirror it, or adjust Straighten to correct a small tilt. Check the crop frame and preview before downloading; Undo lets you reverse an adjustment.
